Accomplishments
Since its establishment a little over seven years ago, the Revere Beautification Committee, working closely with the City of Revere and the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), has been instrumental in the implementation of the following:
- Installation of more than 100 litter barrels throughout the city
- Installation of banners along Broadway
- Adoption of islands by various businesses throughout the city
- Initial work to spruce up the median strip on Squire Road
- City-wide sweeping program
- Monitoring of local properties through a reporting system that results in a cleaner environment and garners additional revenue for the City through fines for non-compliant offenders
- Planting and maintenance of the flower beds along Revere Beach
- “Business Recognition Program”
- Working with Revere High School to beautify the veteran memorials throughout the City
- Cleaning Revere Public Library grounds
- Cleaning the Rumney Marsh Cemetery
- Cleaning graffiti on public grounds
- Working with DCR to purchase and install new drinking fountains on Revere Beach
- In partnership with the DCR, purchasing covers for all of the barrels along Revere Beach Boulevard
Our future plans include:
- Continuing our work on Squire Road
- Expanding the Adopt-an-island program throughout the City
- Continuing the fire hydrant painting program
- Continuing the “Home/Business Recognition Program”
- Cleaning up the pavilions on Revere Beach by a combination of painting, bird-proofing, and power washing each of these structures
- Beautifying Butler Circle (in process)
With the funds that we have raised through our Banner Program, Barrel Program, and private donations, we have paid for the following:
- Initial landscaping and maintenance of Revere City Hall
- Planting and maintenance of the flower beds along Revere Beach
- Brackets for the hanging baskets on Revere Beach
- Adoption and maintenance of an island in Beachmont
- Barrels in front of City Hall
- Some of the new street signs that were installed in the City
- Landscaping and painting of the Revere Recreation Center
- Landscaping of the Revere Society for Cultural & Historic Preservation building
